Landscaping: Week 6

Mar 27-31, 2000

The irrigation will most likely be finished this week. The fence is beginning to go back together, too.

front gate More irrigation controls back yard More trenches are being filled in than dug. I think this is a good sign!

More drainage/irrigation ditches are being filled in as the final few sprinkler heads are planted. There are still some drip lines to go in. The orange line on the hillside above the retaining wall is the approximate location of a future two foot rock wall that will be used to terrace the hillside.

Irrigation to the plant area between the driveways is in. A copper feed pipe was laid between the junction of two driveway slabs. At the same time the terracing of the hillside above the retaining wall started. A load of sand and concrete was delivered, I suspect they will be used to build the seat walls. I've been told that there are 78 tons of stone scheduled for delivery once that phase of the project begins.

The rototiller was in use much of the day, chopping the large clumps into smaller clumps, ready to mix with some good soil. Posts for the expanded pool enclosure have been set, marking one end of the stone border between pool deck and upper garden/patio area. The stone terracing above the retaining wall is done. Work has started on the first of 3 seat walls.

The seat wall between the pool and shed is ready for plaster and stone. The beginning of several seat walls is up in the front yard by the pool house. The planters have been moved inside the fence, but the fence has not been fixed yet. That probably won't occur until whatever we get to replace the pine tree is planted. Posts have been installed for the section of fence between the driveway and the side yard. A bit more irrigation has been planted in the back, and the ground tilled some more.

Next week the shed should move.
