Eckhard,
Take a run up to my house and have a look how I combined the top portion of the lockable mount of Touratech and the 5" long RAM arm for the bottom part of the connection.  I just completed a 16,000 km trip and I had the 2610 on the bike all along.

What ever you do, I suggest to mount it as high as possible.  You should not look down to se the GPS, it's dangerous.   I started out with a low mounting position then I changed it to higher up before my next ride.
