Liquid-Cooled Oilhead Prototyped, But Won't See Production

Hello all,

BMW Motorrad designed and built a high-output liquid-cooled boxer motorcycle
prototype, which can be seen in BMW's "Mobile Traction" private museum, but
the bike will not go into production. This, according to Cycle Canada
magazine (Aug 04) is what remains of BMW's experimentation into high-output
boxers. The engine may not be a true boxer, as its heads appeared to be
canted up for improved cornering. The factory ultimately decided the concept
was "not workable", so it looks like the new GS engine or a variant
therefrom will be a likely mill in upcoming BMW sport models. The full
article appears in Cycle Canada magazine, page 9.
