Eureka Springs Weekend Update - New News

Presidents,

There's new news, so please read carefully.

Four weeks to go! It's time to plan for the cool weather of early fall
and the fragrance of BBQ wafting through the air. Join us in Eureka
Springs, Arkansas for the weekend of September 24th, 25th and 26th.

This will be the fifth year for this gathering at the Swiss Holiday
Resort to celebrate the wedding anniversary of Bette and Rob Lessen and
the birthdays of Bette Lessen, Robert Munday and Ken Roggenkamp... and
just to have a great time in the Arkansas mountains. We are meeting at
the traditional "motorcycle friendly" motel, the Swiss Holiday Resort...
make your reservations at 888/582-2220. To get the lower group rate,
tell the clerk that you are with the BMW group and Rob Lessen.

Additional details will be announced as they become available.

For Friday dinner, Roscoe (Roscoe's Music And Internet Espresso Bar,
Eureka Springs) will escort us to his favorite local Mexican restaurant.

The current plans for Saturday are changing. Two of our Presidents rode
to Hot Springs along our proposed route a few weekends ago and the actual
mileage along those Arkansas twisties is much further than my computer
mapping software indicates. 200 computer miles from Eureka Springs to
Hot Springs is actually 250 miles and would take five hours to complete.
That would only get us to lunch. A visit to the BMW dealer in Little
Rock takes us further out of our way. We would be riding all day and
you'd get fatigued by the end of the ride... then you'd not be any fun
Saturday night.

Here is the current proposal: The highways of interest for the weekend
are AR21, AR23 and Arkansas Scenic 7. We'll head south on one of those
in the morning and return on another one in the afternoon. Two
suggestions have been made for lunch. President Mark Austin and his
father (who lives in the area) can arrange for us to dine at a catfish
buffet in Russellville. President Joe Muha (co-owner of Copeland's in
Fayetteville) recommended Rivertowne BBQ in Ozark... along the "Pig
Trail". Check out Rivertowne at www.RivertowneBBQ.com . A final
decision will be announced soon. More Arkansas twisty state roads will
take us back to home base for dinner. We plan a full day of riding and
lunching. Plus, the weekend features door prizes and Bette Lessen's
cookies.
