R1200GS: GPSMAP 276C Mounting Details

A few close-up pictures of the way I mounted my Garmin 276C. The ram mount was kit GRSP3H from Touratech/Cycoactive. The GPS cradle is the top part of the cradle assembly that comes with the 276C. Remove the large screw in the center of the cradle assembly with a quarter to separate the top and bottom parts of the cradle.

I snipped some cable ties and moved the gps inward a slight bit. The RAM mounting arm is now about 45 degrees clockwise from vertical. It used to be a few degrees counter-clockwise of vertical.

I noticed I was getting more turbulence on the left hand side of my helmet than the right. I don’t know that the GPS is the cause, but decided to move it just to see there is any difference.

2012 update

The Garmin is gone, replaced by a smaller DeLorme PN-60. The mount has been moved even further inboard.
