I found a cheaper-than-list-price ($12.99 delivered) gearkeeper made to hold CB mikes. It supposedly had a 9 oz pull, but it holds my 14 oz camera. A couple of cable ties and it is attached to my tankbag and my camera. This is much better than having to slip my wrist through the strap while riding down the road.

The first image shows what will happen if I have to drop the camera. The second shows how the camera is stowed when not taking pictures. This camera is only used for on-the-go images. My SLR is used once the bike is stopped.
