Spring Death Valley ride alternate route query

Hi Folks,

Some of us dislike I5 enough that we're thinking of another route to
Death Valley in 2 weeks.  I assume the I5 groups will leave at 5 AM
and 6 AM as usual.   I'm proposing a 3rd group:

 1) leave the donut shop at 6:00 AM (on the 14th)
 2) 101 -> 25 -> Holister: breakfast at the Cozy Cup
 3) 25 -> 198 -> 33 -> Lokern Rd -> 58 -> Bakersfield: lunch or snack
 4) Bakersfield -> 178 -> 190 -> 374 -> Beatty

The up side is no I5, but you still get the nice run on 178 around
Lake Isabella.  The down side is about 550 miles from here to there.

Any takers?

And where does the I5 group stop for lunch?
