Lonely rider

On Friday morning April 20, 2001, a lonely Harley rider was making his
way up Interstate 5 somewhere north of the Bakersfield area, thinking
just how lonely it is out on the road. Wondering what would happen if
he broke down, if he fell down, if. . . if. . . After all, he had just
traveled over a thousand miles with no stator, and a whole bunch of
strange noises coming from his iron horse!

Then out of no where heading toward him on the southbound lanes he
beheld a group of riders, 5 or 6 of them. They weren't all on Harleys,
but they were riders and we are all one big family - if you ride is all
that counts!!! The lonely Harley rider wasn't alone at all, there were
other riders near! The lonely Harley rider waved to them, the BMW in
the front, several bikes in the middle, and the little one in the red
Aerostitch jacket at the rear. He felt a load had been lifted off his
shoulders, other riders! But alas, none of them waved back. The lonely

Harley rider was again alone. The lonely Harley rider pondered this
occurrence for a few moments and thought - boy the riders I ride with on

Sunday mornings to breakfast wouldn't let a lonely rider pass without a
wave.

While still pondering the lack of acknowledgment from this pack of
riders (about twenty five minutes later), the lonely Harley rider
spotted a group of three riders coming towards him in the southbound I-5

lanes. Again, the lonely Harley rider didn't feel alone, as there were
other riders near! The lonely Harley rider waved to the trio, but the
first two must have had blinders on, as they showed no signs of
acknowledgment. What a lonely feeling overcame the lonely Harley
rider. Wait, the third rider, the one with the yellow Aerostitch jacket

waved back. What a rush - the lonely Harley rider was no longer
lonely!!! The Harley rider wondered if riders with Aerostitch jackets
were assigned the tail gunner spot for a reason!
