Hi Riders
I was finally able to connect by phone with Fred at Stanford Hospital, 
where he sounded pretty good, and is anticipating neck surgery Friday, 
for chipped cervical vertebrae.  His right arm was broken, and he 
apparently had a skull fracture, but that doesn't seem to be a serious 
problem, believe it or not.
Considering the severity of the crash, it is a real relief to learn that 
he should come out of this walking and talking OK, after some serious 
convalescence.
He's had some serious injuries, but at least it was not as bad as we 
feared it could be.  Marc Hyman was visiting with him this afternoon, so 
it sounds like he's greatly improved.  The phone # I finally reached him 
on is 650-498-3723, but it may not be the best idea for him to get a 
great many calls, I'm not sure.
