Subject: [smbc] Slide Show - Legend of the Motorcycle Show

Riders,

The link below will take you to a 3 minute high resolution streaming
slide show, depicting this past weekend's Legend of the Motorcycle show.

What a spectacular location and event it is.

Perhaps my favorite bike in the show was a 1938 Velocette KTT junior,
because of its especially wonderful back story. The bike was raced
successfully in Europe by a privateer from France, including at the Isle
of Mann TT. After the bike's retirement, it ultimately became the
property of a European collector. For many years the original racer's
daughter, Annie, and her family tried to find the bike, with the hope of
reacquiring their father's machine.

Once they finally found it, the collector was not interested in parting
with it. However, that collector recently passed away and his heirs made
a point of selling the bike back to the racer's family. With just a few
weeks to get it sorted before the Legends show, Annie's son made the
Velo run again while leaving it in its original condition. They brought
the bike all the way from France to share it with us and honor their
beloved patriarch. Annie even had her Dad's original helmet with the
bike.

If that doesn't capture the romance of motorcycling, I don't know what
does.

I hope you enjoy the show.
