My ride to Gardnerville started about 6:30 AM, between the 6 AM group and the 7 AM group. At the Orchard in Tracy I was suprised to find that the 6 AM group had just placed their order but not yet been served. Hmmm, I didn't think I was going that fast.

After a hearty breakfast it was out to the parking lot just in time for the 7 AM group to start straggling in. I said hi, then good-bye, and took off on my own. My planned route is Ebbits and Monitor Pass to 395 then up to Gardnerville.

These pictures were taken at a rest stop just below Ebbits pass. The interesting thing (to me, anyway) was the patches of snow on the various peaks surrounding the pass. I don't remember that much snow in past years. Perhaps it is the result of the very wet spring that seemed to last forever.

At the top of monitor pass there is a dirt road that needed taking. I didn't go very far, but suspect that it would wind its way down the pass to 395 on the Nevada side of the border. That would be the road going off to the right in the first picture. Were I not alone I might have taken it to see if that is the case. The second picture is the road going back to highway 89.

I stopped one more time on the way to the Village Motel, this time just before highway 89 winds its way down to 395. As you can see from the pictures, it was a beautiful day (and not too hot, either).
