For the older cable style.   I don't believe this is the case with
the newer style.   I remember bringing my bike in for a service when
they brought up the 'cable change is recommended" issue.   Then another
tech reminded the service writer that cable replacement is only for
pre-xxxx (forget the year) bikes.
