Groeger Special Tooling
2600 Bay Road, Redwood City, CA 94063
This is Joe Groeger scoping out the condition of the large bearing from the
rear-end of a 1966 BMW R69S (mine). It's an example of the type of things
that happen Saturday mornings at Groeger Special Tooling. (He found
indications of pitting on the race -- the bearing was replaced).
Join us as we talk about (and sometimes work on) old BMW motorcycles. The group meets just before 10:00 AM Saturday mornings at Groeger Special Tooling in Redwood City. We leave for breakfast between 10:00 and 10:30.
There's a mailing list for those who meet on Saturday. See the mail page for more information.

Bob and Simon, in legal parking spots, were spared the added brunch time expense of a parking ticket. I wasn't in the red, but was still cited for being in a cross hatched area instead of paying the meter. Apparently that is a crime in Redwood City!
See The Vintagent for a nice write-up of Joe at work making old parts better than new.
After Joe found the location of the dripping oil and tightened some of the screws on the case cover Reta took the bike on a test ride. I think things were better, but her pre-war harley was still dripping a bit. Maybe they are supposed to do that. Don't know.
Darryl's bike is missing something. Not sure what, but it just doesn't seem complete. Must be the missing exhaust. That's what he was working on before breakfast. The second picture was after breakfast when some of the group took a little ride. Both pics from Chris.
Chris provides this picture of Joe measuring the big end of a connecting rod to figure out what size roller bearings will be needed to put the crank together.
(Feb 2) Chris says:
11 souls eating outdoors this morning in spite of the weather forecast...many
missed! You can be sure ALL will have jackets next week....
Feb 9 update: temp was pushing 70F today... no jackets needed.
