It’s been 10,936 miles since I last replaced a rear tire.

Cleaner rim
The pictures show that it was time. I probably hit the wear bars on the way back from Death Valley a few weeks ago. The second pictures shows the wheel stand with bead breaker attachment. This is the first time I’ve used it on a rear, 17” tire. I had to make a few adjustments to get the blade that does the breaking to fit correctly. All-in-all it’s easier to use than my old hand tool.
I did some wheel cleaning while the tire was off of the rim.

Look ma, no weights
The first pictures shows weights. Those are the weights I needed to balance the last tire. This tire better matches my wheel. I wound up removing all of the old weights. that was enough to get the wheel/tire in balance. No new weights were needed.

Needs recycling
The wheel is back on the bike and torked to spec – 60 Nm. That leaves me with four tires that are either used up or disliked enough to not want to put them back on the bike. I think it’s time for a trip to the tire recycler.
