Monday evening the toilet backed up. Called the plumber early Tuesday morning. Plumber had no luck at the only known clean-out. The camera snaked through is under water and doesn’t show anything. It is also blocked at about the point the spur connected to the clean-out meets the main line… under the slab the house sits on. Only choice is to dig a hole and take a look. Glad the original radiant heat isn’t used any more.
The hole needed to be in our dining room. Not being sure if we can replace the stone tiles on top of the foundation the plan changes. The plumbers dig down in the family room and then angle in under the dining room the foot or so needed to find the spot the camera and snake hung up.
When digging the plumbers hit a foundation footing where an original, pre remodel, probably load bearing wall once had been. The footing is left alone. Instead the hole is made bigger. It means another foot or so of horizontal digging will be needed to get to the location of the hang up.

This is only step one. Tomorrow we should have a better idea of what the next step will be.
